Chocolate Muffin History

Once upon a time in the deep dark depths of a wood somewhere in America a lonely piece of chocolate lived. It lived in a little house made out of twigs and branches and every day it would travel the short distance to the small puddles nearby to collect its essential chocolate juices. It was a sad life for Henry, the piece of chocolate because he had no-one to talk to. He just sat in his house everyday waiting for something to happen.

Henry was quite old and in his life he had had several exciting adventures in the wood. He had narrowly missed being squashed on several occasions and his only friend that he had ever made was a little ant that he had met one day when going out to collect his muffin juices and who was now dead. So Henry was left all alone in the wood.

Because Henry had so much time on his hand he would sit on his little chair made from a leaf and think. He would think about what he wanted to do with his life and wondered whether there was anything more for a piece of chocolate to do than just think. Being a kind soul with a lot of ambition he decided that he wanted to do something in life that would make him never be forgotten. Then one day Henry got tired of thinking and instead said to himself:

"Today I'm going to go out and achieve all these things and stop just thinking about them."

So that was that and Henry packed up his possessions (which didn't take long because Henry wasn't one to collect things) and set off into the wood. This is where the story of the history of the Muffin becomes very vague because during the time of Henry's travel he went to so many places that it was very difficult to keep track of him. What is definite is that he went around finding other pieces of chocolate who were lonely like he was and together they formed a huge army which became so big that it was like a ball of chocolate pieces.

At this point the story takes an unhappy turn for Henry, but if he had known what was to come afterwards he would have been a very happy piece of chocolate because he would have achieved his aim in life. What happened was that an innocent little girl came along and spied the ball of chocolate on the ground, picked it up and began to eat it oblivious to the screams of fear and hurt coming from the pieces of chocolate. It was just a coincidence that the girls's mother was a cook and when she saw the chocolate she shouted at her daughter:

"Oh, Muffin!! "

It was from then on that the ball of chocolate was known as a muffin. The girls mother spread the idea and experimented with different flavours and soon the muffin became a worldwide snack for people to eat. But we must never forget poor Henry and how he never knew how successful he was, every time we munch into a chocolate muffin.
